D&D 5e – AL (Tier 1) | Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus at Lvlup on 02 Feb 2020

Details:

SYSTEM, GAME and ADVENTURE

Dungeons and Dragons is the world’s oldest tabletop roleplaying game, and is currently enjoying a great resonance. Thanks to streaming let’s plays and podcasts, D&D has never been more popular. Currently in its fifth edition, D&D continues to go strong!

DM “Farmer B. Dicefarmer” will be running players through the hardcover adventure, “Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus”. Come follow a rag-tag band of adventurers as they are swept up in a game of political intrigue in the rough-and-tumble town of Baldur’s Gate… only to be pulled into Avernus, the first circle of Hell for their trouble!

This session will be: Chapter One – Vanthampur Villa

Welcome all! DM “Farmer B. Dicefarmer” will be your humble, and merciful, Dungeon Master. They run an open, inclusive table for players of all skill levels.

To inexperienced players: this is an open event. Feel free to join in the fun even if you haven’t been playing long! For all Tier 1 adventures, the DM will have level 1 pre-generated characters available if needed; regrettably, due to time constraints, players will not have the ability to generate characters at the table. If this is your first time ever playing D&D, you might also want to check out some of the ‘beginner’ session, also running at LVLUP GAMES.

Experienced players note: this is an Adventure League compliant event, and as such, we will be following AL Season 9 rules (link below). Any AL legal character of the appropriate tier may join this adventure. Gold, magic items, renown, and downtime days follow the usual season nine caps and guidelines.

Log sheets will be available for returning and new players.

Returning players note: There will be few minor changes to how the adventures will be structured. To make it more friendly to those wishing to drop in and out, as well as to try to keep in more in-line with AL adventures, sessions will be more compartmentalized moving forward. Each session will have a chapter and title you can note on your log sheets.

COMMUNICATIONS TOOLS:

For a safe and enjoyable game for all, moving forward we will be employing a couple of safety tools for these games.

“The X-Card” – a simple card with an “X” is placed on the table. Players can raise or tap the card to indicate they are uncomfortable with a description, or other piece of content. Action at the table is paused, and that bit of content altered or excised before moving along. This is done without question, debate, or judgement. The point isn’t to justify why you’re uncomfortable with something, only to indicate you are so the game can be suitable changed, and continue to be fun for everyone.

“Yellow Card” – similar to the yellow card in football, this card is simply handed to a player that has caused a disruption, and has already been verbally warned to alter their behavior. A second card would require the player find a different game.

Disruptive behaviors would include, but are not limited to: excessive use of foul language, hitting on another player’s character, making overtly sexual remarks (even if ‘in-character’), disparaging or denigrating another player’s choices (even if ‘in-character’), telling another player how to run their character, any form of ‘PVP’ or hostel action toward another player’s character, or any other action the DM judges to be rude or disruptive.

It’s just a game, after-all. Play safe, and have fun!
