Plant a Pollinator Patch with TRCA and Ecosource

Date and Time: 20 July 2022, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM EDT

Day: Wednesday

Organized By: Ecosource

Venue: Iceland Teaching Garden, (along Jan’s Trail behind Iceland Arena at 705 Matheson Blvd), Mississauga, ON, Canada

Help plant native wildflowers to provide vital habitat for birds, bees and butterflies! Participants will learn about local plants, pollinators, and their important connections to food security, while planting wildflowers at the Iceland Teaching Garden. Equipment and a planting demonstration will be provided. TRCA is committed to creating an accessible experience for all participants.

We will also be planting some edible plants as part of a “food forest” and hearing from some our youth volunteers about these plants!

We ask that any participants under the age of 10 are accompanied with an adult or guardian.

If you require an accessibility accommodation, please email Jennifer.Ouimette@trca.ca at least 7 days prior to the event.

The event will take place at Ecosource’s Iceland Teaching Garden. Once registered, you will receive instructions on accessing the location. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Deanna at dhove@ecosource.ca

Ecosource is an innovative environmental organization inspiring our community to care about and take personal action for the environment through creative public education. The Growing Youth Food Leaders project increases opportunities for Peel residents and youth to care for green spaces through a food justice lens and understand their impact on the local food system through hands-on field-to-table learning and youth-led initiatives. This project is generously supported by the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. Visit ecosource.ca to learn more.
