Tranquil Waterfront Hike

Date and Time: 23 April 2022, 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM EDT

Day: Saturday

Organized By: Black Canadian Hikers

Venue: Colonel Samuel Smith Park, 3145 Lake Shore Blvd W, Etobicoke, ON M8V 4B6, Canada

With many different ways to celebrate Earth Day and make an impact, we will be Hiking part of the Great Waterfront Trail at Colonel Samuel Smith Park. This park is located right behind Toronto’s Humber College Lake Shore Campus. We will be hiking approximately 4.3 km along the ins and outs of this beautiful bird haven trail with a magnificent Skyline waterside view. As we hike along the Lake of shining waters, we will pause and calm down our minds with a soothing water meditation. There is something calming about being around water.

Did you know? That being surrounded by water can have major health benefits. It has stress-reducing effects and increases our levels of dopamine, which is our bodies own natural feel good hormones and this as a result allows us to feel more peaceful and relaxed.

Let’s show our appreciation for the earth through experiencing the healing wonders of the water!

Hiking Difficulty: Beginner Friendly

Terrain: Flat & Paved

Distance: 4.3 km

Parking: Free Parking lot at the trailhead

Washroom: There is no washroom available at the trailhead

**Please arrive at least 20 minutes early, as the hike will be starting right at 10am**

Black Canadian Hikers (BCH) is a grassroots community hiking group in the GTA which began in the year 2020. Black Canadian Hikers is an open hiking group on a mission to connect those across the African & Black Diaspora in Ontario to nature through hiking to build community, break down stereotypes and increase representation, learn about the land we live on, and to improve our overall well-being, one trail at a time. BCH is an LGBTQ+ safe space and is open to all underserved and underrepresented communities as well. This is a space where we welcome you with open arms, just like nature, it welcomes us all, for we are nature, therefore we are all connected and we are all one.

One Love
